I love the games which provides many possibilities. Like cards games or Matchstick puzzles. They provide endless possibilities and hours of fun.
It is not always fun but also helps in developing logic thinking and reasoning capabilities.
WiKi has to say following on Puzzles:
"A puzzle is a game or problem which tests the ingenuity of a would-be solver. In a puzzle, one is required to put pieces together, in a logical way, in order to arrive at the correct solution of the puzzle.
Solutions of puzzles often require the recognition of patterns and the creation of a particular kind of order. People with a high level of inductive reasoning aptitude may be better at solving such puzzles than others. But puzzles based upon inquiry and discovery may be solved more easily by those with good deduction skills. Deductive reasoning improves with practice. "
Some of the famous examples are:
The big square is a farm. The smaller square is the homestead. The farmer wishes to retire and remain on the homestead. He also wants to divide the rest of the farm equally among his five sons. Can you do it for him?
Eighteen matches form a Solomon’s seal, which comprises eight triangles. Move two matches and reduce the number of triangles to six.
This farmer has a large piece of land, and a homestead. How can he divide the land (apart from the homestead) equally among his six sons?
Move four matches and make three squares
